The PEC Institute, as part of its projects, embarked on “Before Tertiary Drive 2022” series which started in Ada Senior High School where the PEC team engaged SHS 3 students as they prepare for educational progression into the tertiary institutions after their WASSCE.
The ‘Before University Drive’ initiative seeks to educate SHS 3 students about the various courses in university, the various accredited school, lifestyle, personal hygiene, oral health, and other relevant issues.
The Institute brought together professionals to enlighten the students about things to consider when choosing their programs in tertiary, cut-off points and others.
During the outreach, sanitary pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste, exercise books, and other educational materials were given to the students.
Professionals present were Dr. Solomon Kusi, A Dentist at St. Martins Memorial Hospital, Mr. Gabriel Nomotsu Teye-Ali, the General Manager at Stratcon Holdings Ltd, and Miss Susana Mabel Darpoh, a Volunteer nurse at Kpone Polyclinic, Miss Amma Odamea Amoako, A digital marketer and a law student, Bridget Bonnie, the founder of the PEC Institute, a Digital Marketer and a Communications Person and finally Mr. Martin Osabutey, an ICT and Network Engineer at Authentic ICT Consult.
The session was very educational and interactive. The Nurse educated the students about their reproductive health i.e. menstruation, vaginal and penial hygiene, and many more.
One of the highlights according to one student was when they were taught how to use and dispose of the menstrual pads.
The dentist tackled oral health; procedures for brushing the teeth recommended type of toothpaste, oral diseases, and others.
There was a breakout session where students were grouped according to their respective courses and they had the professionals educate them about the courses in tertiary related to their SHS study, how to study, and personal development and planning.
It was climaxed with remarks from the headmaster of Adasco who expressed his utmost appreciation to the PEC team and encouraged them to visit more schools with the initiative
The PEC Institute has received support from companies and individuals but the most notable of them are Delali Adiamah of WayaMoney and Mr. James Baduor of ADPlist for their continuous and immerse support.
The donors highlighted the impact The PEC Institute and Bridget Bonnie are making hence they are available to support any of the projects, as it’s their way of giving back to society.
