Opinion: Bad Officiating (Ismail Elfath), Black Stars Fought A Good Fight Against Portugal

Arsenal’s Partey Quiz Ref. Ismail Elfath During Ghana’s Opener Against Portugal.

Many described Ghana’s maiden opener against Portugal as a broad day robbery as the referee (Ismail Elfath) of the match dumped the spirit of Ghanaian football patrons with bad officiating at the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Although, the match ended with 3 goals in favor of Portugal as the Black Stars netted 2goals at the 924 Stadium after the match.

Ghanaians with over 29.5millions population won’t watch the Black Stars match without them (Ghanaians) becoming coaches during tournaments like this.

To me (Blagogee), the players did their best but it was unfortunate that the referee (Ismail Elfath) of the match robbed Ghanaians of their first Coupe du Monde against Portugal.

Respect Coach Otoo Addo Decisions
I feel the pains of Black Stars patrons with some changes made by the head coach of Ghana, but the question is we were the same people who lauded his friendly performance against Switzerland.

The same football patrons when the line-up was released were lauding the coach for taking a board decision to drop one of the Ayew brothers during the game against Portugal.

To me (Blagogee) as Ghanaians refer to the coach as a scout for Dortmund I feel he took Ghana to the World Cup and was competent for the job. Sometimes we want more in this big stage tournament, but until then can we give Otoo Addo his flowers for his master class performance?

Mohammed Kudus

Kudus Yellow Card Could’ve Been Avoided
Mohammed Kudus our talisman in the game to me could’ve avoided that yellow card because at this stage he should’ve known better.

44 minutes into the game Kudus saw his opponent with the ball but decided to use a stamp to receive the ball. That yellow card could be avoided as a playmaker for the National team.

Kudus is very good and could’ve played 90mins without being substituted against Portugal, but with the Yellow and how the ref was officiating the referee could’ve brandished another card even if Kudus makes another tackle during the match.

Andre Morgan Ayew Equaliser Celebration Against Portugal.

Substitutions Ghana Vs. Portugal
This is the problem, many football lovers were of the view that after the equalizer against Portugal by captain Andre Morgan Ayew, he should’ve played extra minutes before living the pitch.

49th minutes into the game Dede had a yellow card, and the coach wanted to rest him after the equalizer because we all know that Dede isn’t at top of his peak at the moment, but in a tournament like this, he always makes a difference. The big question is was the substitution needed at that point?

Baba Rahman Joins Team Mate After Ghana Equalise Against Portugal.

Exhausted Baba Rahman
Reading Fc, left back Baba Rahman doesn’t deserve to play the full 90mins against Portugal, he did very well against Switzerland in the friendly game but against Portugal, he (Rahman) caused that 2nd goal in the 78th minutes when Atletico Madrid played Joao Felix curled the ball into the net.

Rahman however, redeemed himself with an assist as Bukari scored a header in the 89th minute. Baba was exhausted and Gideon Mensah could’ve proved a point against Portugal.

Coaches Must Listen To Their Technical Team
Ghanaians know Otoo Addo, is the head coach of the Black Stars I feel he must listen to his technical side because he has the men who can deliver during tournaments like this, which they’ve played against other teams during this same big stage.

As for Jordan Ayew, the least said the better. Black Stars go hard against South Korea to come Monday, 28th November 2022 at the ongoing Qatar Fifa World Cup.
